LabYard: AI i kunst- og kulturproduktion

Weekend workshop:
7.-8. oktober i Helsingør
Deltagergebyr: 100 kr.
(inkl. vegetarisk mad og drikke)

Udstilling og eftersnak:
9.-11. oktober i Helsingør

MirabelleJones4

Mirabelle Jones

Through talks and workshops, you will gain insights from contemporary artists who are already using this technology. You will also have the opportunity to experiment with image and text prompting yourself.

The recent emergence of advanced algorithms has provided us with a range of new technologies that have the potential to fundamentally change how we create and consume visual art and culture. Advanced language models and machine learning enable entirely new features, genres, and formats that we could not have previously imagined. Spanning from the artworks we see in galleries and museums to the series we watch, the music we listen to, and the books we read.

The purpose of LabYard: Weekend is to explore the opportunities and challenges that art and artists face when encountering this new technology. As a participant, you will gain hands-on experience with AI tools, insights into how the technology is used today, and perspectives on how it may be used in the future.

Through practical workshops, we will experiment with the use of existing AI tools, and through discussions, presentations, and talks with individuals from both domestic and international backgrounds, we will explore what these technologies might mean for the future of art and cultural production.

Jared Madere

Artist Jared Madere’s work is the product of an obsession with the limits of human subjectivity. His art is a haven for extreme emotions. It’s where associations become exploded from the inside out and new forms of mutilating meaning burst from the heart of familiar things.

He uses AI, generative imagery, and collaborations with artisans and craftspersons based on linguistic prompts, his practice employs automated systems within more traditional structures of signification as a means of eliciting an emotional response.

MirabelleJones4

Mirabelle Jones

In a lecture presented by artistic researcher and creative technologist Mirabelle Jones, Jones will present a body of works, which explore ethical issues in artificial intelligence through participatory artistic research.

Using collaborative performance art to interactive installations built on technologies such as deep fake, natural language processing (such as ChatGPT), and computer vision as well as other technologies, Jones’s
work surfaces tensions between the self and the self as represented by data. A group discussion and Q&A session will follow the talk.
