Process / Objective: Residency

Drawing on her background as a classical philologist and her interests in literature, anthropology, history and art, writer Anne Carson engages with ideas and themes from a wide range of disciplines. Her work explores subjects such as grief, justice, longing and despair, moving effortlessly between the ancient and the contemporary, and between poetry, philosophy and cultural history. In her writing, the scholarly and the vulnerable meet the witty and the elegant.

At Kulturværftet, Anne Carson is in residence alongside the acclaimed English actor Ben Whishaw, musician Kjartan Sveinsson of the Icelandic band Sigur Rós, artist Robert Currie, and a vocal ensemble comprising Danish artists Mija Milovich (Slim0)Anja Jakobsen (Valby Vokalgruppe)Hávard Magnussen (Vokalensemblet ÆTLA) and Viktor Emil Kassebeer

Together, they are developing a new theatre piece/performance situated at the intersection of experimental composition and choral practice, poetry and performance. The project is inspired by Anne Carson’s celebrated 1998 verse novel Autobiography of Red. Drawing on the Greek myth of Heracles and the monster Geryon, the novel tells the story of a red-winged creature struggling to find its place in the world.

The residency is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation’s programme New Formats for the Live Arts and aims to advance the artistic development of the project towards a fully realised performance, which will be presented at Kulturværftet in the coming years.

As a first public presentation of the work, a teaser will be shown at the Louisiana Literature Festival on 21 August

Slim0 x Kulturværftet

Name: Slim-0

Residency Period: August 2026

Process / Objective: Residency

Since 2017, the Copenhagen-based doom rock trio Slim0 (Simin Ramezanali, Lena Milovic and Mija Milovic) has scratched away at the polished surfaces of the Danish music scene with vital, rebellious songs and intense live performances, establishing itself as one of the most important acts in Denmark’s underground music community. The voices of all three members are central to the group’s compositions, with vocal expression forming a key element of the band’s artistic practice. Alongside their musical work, the trio’s members are active as artists across sound and vocal experimentation as well as visual art.

In August, the group is in residence at Kulturværftet, where they are developing a new theatre piece/performance that unfolds at the intersection of experimental composition and sound, therapy and performance. Inspired by Metallica’s documentary Some Kind of MonsterSlim0 invites a therapist into the band’s creative process to explore relationships, conflicts, roles and emotions as artistic material. The project seeks to challenge the boundary between the authentic and the staged, moving fluidly between concert, theatre and documentary.

The aim is to create a performance through reconstructed scenes, fictional conflicts and musical experiments, inviting audiences backstage, into the rehearsal room and deep inside the band’s inner workings. The result is a fragmented music theatre work where drone metal, spiritual music and performance converge.

The residency is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation’s programme New Formats for the Live Arts and aims to further develop the artistic work towards a finished performance, which will be presented at Kulturværftet in the coming years.

EU Digital Deal: Charlotte Jarvis (UK) – In Loco Parentis

Name: Charlotte Jarvis
Project: In Loco Parentis
Residency Period: 2024–2025
External Partnerships: Ars Electronica
Status: Under development
Events: November 2025 – seminar, performance & exhibition
Process / Objective: Residency

Charlotte Jarvis is an artist and lecturer working at the intersection of art and science. Her practice often incorporates living cells and DNA: she has recorded music onto DNA, seen her own heartbeat outside her body, and is currently creating the world’s first female sperm. Her recent works explore the future of reproduction and conceptualize the body as a liminal space—a site for transformation, hybridization, and magic.

Charlotte creates large-scale multimedia installations and performances for international solo and group exhibitions. She is currently artist-in-residence with the Saragüeta group, IBYME in Argentina; the Chuva de Sousa Lopes group, LUMC in the Netherlands; and Kulturværftet in Denmark. Her works are permanently exhibited at MIT in the USA and the Ars Electronica Center in Linz. She has published peer-reviewed articles in the Leonardo Journal (USA) and is currently a lecturer and researcher at the Royal College of Art.

Name: Louise Foo
Project: Untitled
Residency Period: January 2024 – Ongoing
External Partnerships: Niels Bohr Institute – DARK
Status: Under development
Events: August 2025 (Work In Progress presentation) / July 2026 (Installation Exhibition: A Quiet Place)
Process / Objective: Residency – Application – Exhibition

With a starting point in the world’s various crises, Louise Foo seeks to acquire new knowledge, reflections, and perspectives by giving the Earth a voice and creating opportunities for people to listen.

Louise Foo studied Digital Media at the Funen Art Academy, while simultaneously playing electronic music on the side. It was during her graduate studies at New York University that she began to explore sound more deeply.
Over the past ten years, she has worked with sound as material for interactive experiences, using new technologies to intensify affectively engaging sound qualities.

Her recent works include a multi-channel data sonification that documents the melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet in near real-time; musical exploration of interplanetary space through installations of ceramic and glass sound objects with FOO/SKOU; and immersive music production with the band SØSTR.

EU Rewilding Residency : Louise Foo (DK) – Untitled

Residency Period: March 2025 – Ongoing
External Partnerships: Malmö Kunsthall / Helsingør Shipyard Museum / MS Maritime Museum / Ars Electronica
Status: Under development
Events: September 2025 (Work In Progress presentation) / July 2026 (Installation / Exhibition: A Quiet Place)
Process / Objective: Residency – Application – Exhibition

Vibe Overgaard is a visual artist working with video, text, performance, and sculpture.
The overarching theme in Overgaard’s work is economics and how globally destructive capitalist conditions are normalized politically, culturally, and socially in a Western context. Her work deals with the legacy of modern development, seen in light of her own upbringing, marked by the Danish textile industry.

Through her art, Vibe Overgaard engages with political and theoretical questions with a sensitivity to the embodiment, materiality, and design that anchor capitalism in cultural heritage and everyday life — but which can also provide access to new ideas about intimacy, social responsibility, and sustainable ways of organizing.

She has previously exhibited at ISCP, New York City; Adagio for Things (Overgaden), Copenhagen, Denmark; Kunsthal NORD, Aalborg, Denmark; Floating Projects, Hong Kong; Hotel Maria Kapel, Hoorn, Netherlands; and Odenplan Metro, Stockholm, Sweden, among others.
She was an artist-in-residence at ISCP in 2022 and 2023.
Upcoming at Malmö Kunsthall in 2025.

EU Rewilding Residency : Vibe Overgaard (DK) – Untitled
