Hvad tænker bødlen på, når han går hjem om natten fra arbejde? We Are at Home er en multi-user virtual reality-oplevelse (VR) som udforsker den akavede intimitet, der er ved at være et menneske.

Hvad tænker bødlen på, når han går hjem om natten fra arbejde? Inspireret af Carl Sandburgs ikoniske digt fra 1922, udforsker denne VR-oplevelse temaer omkring anerkendelse og deltagelse. Det handler ikke om at hænge mennesker, men om den akavede intimitet, der er ved at være et menneske såvel som forbindelsen mellem det at være iagttager, vidne og medskyldig. Den animerede, fordybende (immersive) oplevelse inviterer ind til fem sammenvævede historier, som fanger afgørende øjeblikke i fem menneskers liv. We Are at Home afslører, at vi mennesker har langt mere tilfælles end som så.

Dette unikke animerede interaktive værk er en bro mellem det digitale, scenekunst, billedkunst og den nyeste innovative teknologi. I sin kerne er drejer det sig om forbindelsen mellem tilskuer, vidne og medskyldig. Du inviteres ind i en række historier og rum. Som en del af en fælles oplevelse vil du sætte spørgsmålstegn ved dit eget ansvar og den enkeltes rolle i kollektivet.

Begrebet hjem er nøglen – du er hjemme, men det er ikke dit hjem. Forestillingen om at vende hjem til den tvungne intimitet i et hybridrum, som er både offentligt og hjemligt på én gang, giver os mulighed for at transcendere den narrative og karakterdrevne dramaturgi. We Are at Home er en legende og fængslende multiuserinstallation med fokus på teknologidrevne sociale interaktioner: VR frigør os til at eksperimentere med form, rum og fordybende miljøer, hvor den flerlagede dramaturgi, fysiskhed og interaktivitet antyder et internt fortællersprog. Visuelt og historiemæssigt påvirkes deltagerens rejse, fordi de er en del af en gruppe – oplevelsen topper med en opfordring til handling: ikke længere teatralsk eller observerende, det bliver et moralsk spørgsmål om, hvem der skal handle, hvem der følger med og hvem der vil gøre modstand. Udfaldet ændrer alt.

Michelle og Uri Kranots værker har bredt sig ud over traditionel animation og smelter maleri, tegning og nye teknologier ind i nye oplevelser. Deres arbejde er ofte kendetegnet ved en poetisk sensibilitet og fragmenterede fortællinger, der undersøger fortid og nutid, fakta og fiktion. De holder af at samarbejde og eksperimentere på projekter.

Kranoterne er grundlæggerne af TinDrum, et forsknings- og udviklingsstudie. De er producenter og de kreative direktører af ANIDOX, som fokuserer på udvikling og produktion af animerede dokumentarer og er en del af The Animation Workshop, VIA University College i Viborg.

Kranoterne fik anerkendelse med film som Black Tape, Hollow Land, How Long, Not Long og VR-installationerne Nothing Happens og Songbird. De er blevet hædret med de største branchepriser for deres arbejde, herunder Fipresci-prisen på Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Oscar® Academy Award Shortlist og den danske Statens Kunstfond-pris for scenekunst.

Foruden mange prominente filmfestivaler er deres værker udstillet på prestigefyldte venues rundt om i verden, herunder La Biennale di Venezia, Kunsthalle Wien, Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Today Art Museum Beijing og Kunsthal Charlottenborg. Begge uddannede sig med udmærkelser fra Bezalel Academy for Art and Design i Jerusalem. Michelle har en uddannelse i film og tv fra Tel-Aviv University, og Uri modtog sin MFA fra Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design i Budapest, Ungarn. Begge er medlemmer af The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Oprindeligt fra Israel bor Michelle og Uri i Danmark med deres familie og arbejder både herhjemme og internationalt.

Lana Tankosa Nikolic startede Late Love Production i 2016 med det mål at producere auteur-projekter af høj kvalitet. Hun producerer art-house animation, dokumentar-, kort- og spillefilm samt VR-projekter og forfølger altid intelligente tankevækkende kunstneriske projekter, som udfordrer publikum.

Lana har koproduceret med Frankrig, Canada, Storbritannien og Tyskland og hendes projekter har modtaget støtte af Det Danske Filminstitut og Den Vestdanske Filmfond. Hun arbejder med instruktører som Michelle og Uri Kranot, Paul Bush og Martina Scarpelli.

Siden 2010 har Lana arbejdet som uddannelseskoordinator i animation og CG Arts på The Animation Workshop, VIA University College i Viborg.

Hun er den danske ambassadør for European Animation Awards og formand for PLASTIC Collective, hvor hun har sit kontor og studie.

What does the hangman think about when he goes home at night from work? We Are at Home is an immersive multi-user installation exploring themes of acknowledgement, participation and the awkward intimacy that comes with being human.

What does the hangman think about when he goes home at night from work? Inspired by the iconic Carl Sandburg poem (1922), this VR experience explores themes of acknowledgement and participation. It is not about hanging people, but about the awkward intimacy of being human, as well as the connection between observer, spectator, and accomplice. The animated, immersive experience invites you into five interwoven stories, capturing pivotal moments. We Are at Home ultimately reveals that we are all more alike than different, while raising questions of responsibility.

This unique animated interactive work is a bridge between the digital, performing arts, visual arts, and the latest innovative technology. At its core it is the connection between spectator, witness, and accomplice. You are invited into a series of stories and rooms. As part of a shared experience, you will question your own accountability and the role of the individual within the collective.

The concept of home is the key – you are home, but it is not your home. The notion of returning home to the forced intimacy of a hybrid space which is both public and domestic at once, allows us to transcend the narrative and character driven dramaturgy. We Are at Home is a playful and captivating multi-user installation focused on technology-mediated social interactions: VR frees us to experiment with form, space, and immersive environments, where the layered dramaturgy, physicality, and interactivity suggest an internal language of storytelling. Visually, and story-wise, the participant’s journey is affected because they are a part of a group – the experience peaks with a call for action: no longer theatrical or observational, it becomes a moral question of who will take action, who will follow, and who will resist.  And that changes everything.

Michelle and Uri Kranot’s work has expanded beyond traditional animation; fusing painting, drawing, and new technologies into contemporary experiences. Their work is frequently characterized by a poetic sensibility and fragmented narratives exploring past and present, fact and fiction. They enjoy collaborative projects and experimentation.

The Kranots are the founders of TinDrum, a research & development studio. They are the producers and creative directors of ANIDOX, focusing on the development and production of animated documentaries, a part of The Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark.

The Kranots first gained recognition with films such as Black Tape, Hollow Land, How Long, Not Long and the VR installations Nothing Happens and Songbird. They have been honored with the top industry awards for their work, including the Fipresci Prize at Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the Oscar® Academy Award Shortlist and the Danish Statens Kunstfond award for the performing arts.

Alongside many prominent film festivals, their works have been exhibited in prestigious venues around the world, including La Biennale di Venezia, Kunsthalle Wien, Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Today Art Museum Beijing and Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Denmark. Both graduated with honors from The Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. Uri received his MFA from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, Hungary. Both are members of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Originally from Israel, Michelle and Uri live in Denmark with their family and work internationally.

Lana Tankosa Nikolic started Late Love Production in 2016 with the goal of creating high-quality auteur projects. She produces art-house animation, documentaries, shorts, features and VR experiences, always pursuing intelligent, thought-provoking work that challenges audiences. Lana has co-produced with organizations in France, Canada, the UK and Germany, and has had projects financed and supported by the Danish Film Institute and the West Danish Film Fund. She works with directors such as Michelle and Uri Kranot, Paul Bush and Martina Scarpelli. Since 2010, Lana has been working as the Educational Coordinator for Animation and CG Arts at The Animation Workshop, VIA University College, in Viborg, Denmark. She is also the Danish ambassador to the European Animation Awards and the chairperson of the PLASTIC Collective, where her office and studio space are located.
